    Hey there Prado peeps,
I have a 1999 VX Prado V6 3.4ltr Petrol with an Auto Transmission. The engine is starting to get a bit tired at just under 400,000kms. So just wondering what would be best. An engine rebuild or engine replacement. I am considering a replacement to a bigger engine maybe V8. Would like to keep the Auto Transmission. Would a bigger later model engine fit? Looking for some advice on this.
    Thanks fellow Tojo Kings.

I would be researching the 1uzfe lexus v8. can pick up an entire half cut for around $2k. I have fitted one to a hillux and one to a hilux surf they are pretty straight forward. If my 1kz in my 120 prado ever blows thats what is going in

For an upgrade, the obvious choice is the 1UZ. If you do replace the engine with a 1UZ, you'll also need to bring the 1UZ transmission over for best results.

Another option would be rebuild the 5VZ for some serious forced induction!
