  • Toyota 5VZ-FE Engine Repair Manual

Hi, looking for a link to the Toy manual for the 5vzfe.
The gregory or haynes manual just don't cut it, would be great and most thankful if someone could help me out.

well, for starters I can't seem to find how to adjust the ignition timing in the gregory manual.
It has a section on checking the timing and even that is unclear in what effect the difference in base timing between the 8 - 12 degree limit has.
Or is the base timing fixed in the 5vzfe?

The 5VZ-FE engine had Toyota’s ‘Electronic Spark Advance’ (ESA) which used the ECM to determine ignition timing based on signals from sensors and adjust timing in response to engine knocking. --- auto advance until knock detection, from what I've read on hear very slow timing advance

If you are having a problem with timing advance there will most likely be a fault with your knock sensor which is under the inlet manifold and i believe it may just possibly be a fault with the wiring loom to the sensor. RanJ had a fault with his in one of his posts from memory about his excessive fuel consumption he shows pictures with a repair he did.
