Hi all, I'm new to this site, I'm wondering if anyone has had problems with fumes in their car like mine. It's a 1998 Prado petrol 3.4 litre. Smells like fuel or exhaust, but am running on Gas, only happens when you give it a bit under load. Is there a valve or something in the cabin or filter. Have checked the exhaust by blocking it off while idling and can't find any leaks. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hi Rickster, I also have a 98 3.4 running on gas and as long as the vent is closed I dont smell any exhaust gases. Although when I have the fresh air vent open I get a damp smell from the A/C when its not on. Leaving this open for a while clears it but you will start smelling every other vehicle on the road. Older cars running on unleaded really stinks so our vents are usually in the closed position, also living in Alice means we have it on frequently. I hope this helps.97 Vitara 1.6 JX Day Tripper(550klms range), 98 Prado V6 LPG GXL for Touring (1400klms range), Offroad Cub Camper for Overnight.
