  • Swinging Temp guage

    I have got a question about my Prado90 2000 3.4 Petrol.
I have noticed that my Temp Guage come up to normal position just under half way while cruising.
Then if I accelerate up a hill the temp will drop to 1/4 way and slowly come up to normal.
Just finished a trip towing my caravan. Did 3000km no problems. No water used. Never got to halfway.
Can it be a faulty temp meter?
Every time I filled up radiator pipes not overly hot.

Check and clean any connectors on the temp gauge would be worth a shot as it would be unusual to have temps dropping if you have any normal cooling problem.
    Have a read here:

Thanks will do. I am thinking of putting a Madman Engine monitor system on to see exactly what is going on. Prado has got 370000 on the clock so I need to keep an eye on the old engine. Must say I think that my fuel consumption is a bit heavy.
