Took the prado (02 v6 auto) to have the exhaust checked and muffler replaced to get rid of the droaning vibration from 2700 rpm, only to find out there was nothing wrong with the exhaust. Went to the local Toyota dealer, and the forman took it for a drive. It's not drive line, becasue the vibration was there when reving the car in neutral. He suggested it may be harmonic balancer, engine mount or even torque converter. Apparently the Landcruisers developed similar problems, and they would remove the torque converter rotate it slightly from it orginal position and re-install it. This may take a few goes to get it right, but it cured the probelm.
I know the vibration is a common problem in the prado, but I drove my neighbours Prado (2000 V6 auto) and there was only a slight noise & vibration @ 2700rpm. Mine makes a droaning noise and vibrates right through the car.
Anyone else has this problem?
