  • Exhaust upgrade - Worth it??

    Hi all
I have a 97 model Toyota Prado (2.7ltr 4cyc Petrol) Engine is a 3RZ-FE. It is a stock factory motor with currently 130K’s on the clock. Would changing from the current standard exhaust system to an aftermarket provide an increase in performance. I would be looking for improvement across the Rev range as I do both freeway and a fair bit offroad lowrange 4wding. Any advice is appreciated. I have also been looking at Turbos and Superchargers to increase performance but a bit out of my budget range for a perf increase Thanks in advance
    cheers Aaron

A free flowing mandrel bent exhaust will always provide you with a bit of a performance increase as opposed to a stock model (presuming you either stay the same size or go up). From what I've heard the stock muffler is also a bit of an issue, so if you were to get an aftermarket exhaust put in, get a high flowing muffler.
Don't expect a heap though, maybe 5-10kW is a good guess.

Sometime in the future I'll be looking into getting a system for my 5VZ-FE
