      Re: ENGINE SWAP

i know that the 90 series came out with the D4D engine in Europe late in it's life, maybe it also had the 4.0 petrol in some country's.
If it did I don't think it would be a hard change over as the part could be available.

It might be a better option to go the hole hog and put a 1UZ V8 in the front if you are after more grunt as i think it might be a cheaper way to go.
heaps of guys have done conversions to hiluxes so the is heap of experience out there on the probs that could be encountered and shuving the engine into a smallish engine bay.
I think i recall someone doing it somewhere, maybe in the states

Go the supercharger, best bang for the bucks, you can always add more boost within reason

There are plenty of 1UZ prado's in NZ - in fact you can buy an off the shelf fitting kit

Last price I saw on the supercharger was around $10,000.
I'd hardly call that bang for your buck! Especially considering it'll be bolted onto an engine not designed for that power (although it is capable)

Every time curiosity has got the better of me, a scan of the US ebay site has come up with plenty of TRD superchargers. Seen several secondhand under 2K, and new around the 4.5K mark from memory. Makes an attractive proposition at those prices I reckon.
