Re: Useing water
It will be the radiator cap, get the Toyota one and you should be fine, you may as well get a new thermistat at the same time from Toyota, they are cheap as too, about $2097 VX Grande, with front & rear air lockers, ARB Sahara winch bar with tigers 11 winch, 2" EFS lift, 265/75/16 Achilles Desert hawk XMT, and more.

Re: Useing water
Check that your overflow tank doesn't have an air leak on the cap. When the radiator is full, the water expands into the overflow. When the engine cools, it will flow back into the radiator. If there is a leak, air will flow back in instead.
Is the level of the overflow changing each morning? Is it above the cold level to start with when the engine is cold?
