  • Petrol-LPG switching is not smooth

I bought my Prado with LPG kit already installed. It's great and runs cheap!

However the switch is not so smooth between Petrol - Gas. For example in the morning once I start (which uses Petrol by default) and drive off, it would decide to cut to LPG and sometimes I do not have the RPM/speed to keep the engine running. Hence the engine is dead.

The work around until now is before driving off I would Throttle a bit so it switches to Gas.

What could be the problem here?

Sorry to hear about your dilemma Javaman. Best to get it checked by a qualified gas fitter in your area. They know their products and can usually modify the setup a little bit.
    Good luck

Agree with D4D-GXL, gas systems are best looked at by the professionals, they will certainly have a solution for you...

Re: Petrol-LPG switching is not smooth

There are a few different brands of lpg systems which all get setup a little differently. There will also be variations in the install between installers to complicate matters more.

Before you book it in can you provide some more detail?

        - Has it always been like this since you bought it?
        - Does it run a petrol start module? (small black box under bonnet with a few flashing lights and blue text on it)
        - explain a bit better what the lpg cold start system you have currently is, ie does it run on petrol for 5 seconds and the swap or something else?

          Thank you!

It seems like not a DIY job. I'd better bring it to the pro's
