  • Driving with ECT PWR

How many of us drive with ECT PWR "permanently" ?

I have used this for a month and really like it. I am aware it is basically shift timing and with it I could control the shift (e.g. by slightly disengaging throttle).

I suppose this will have no negative long term impact. Except fuel economy, which I found no difference (!) with normal power. I drive and "shift" very smooth like old lady

    Re: Driving with ECT PWR

Increase responsiveness (i.e. down shifting) and accelerated engine wear go hand in hand. I rarely use it in mine. Mainly when on Bells line of road.

It has no affect on the motor if you press the ECT PWR, it only changes the shift mapping in the Auto.
You will only get accellerated wear on the motor the higher the rev you use, this can also be achieved without the ECT PWR button pressed.

I needed to get from the right lane to the left in about 400m when in Sydney recently from the lights in order to get into a service station. Gave her the full boot full in 1st & second (auto) & I was was seriously surprised at the speed she obtained in that short distance. We were running on vapours so the car was pretty "light"

it is funny seeing the reactions of commodorks and winged excel drivers when the blown "Playdough" actually accelerates away from the lights
