  • Which workshop manual to buy?

    Hi All,

Just got my 98 Prado RV and was looking on fleabay for a workshop manual and have found several different brands so I thought I would ask which one you people prefer..... Gregory's seem like a well known brand but I'm not too sure what to get?

    Thanks,
    Tony

Re: Which workshop manual to buy?

    Hi Tony,
Gregory's and Haynes have the same content, word for word, I have both you see. But the chapter layout of the Haynes manual is much more sensible. Not a big deal really so I can recommend either of them.

**EDIT: I didn't realize you had a 2.7L. So I'll point out that the Gregory's/Haynes manuals are for the 3.4 V6 only. They do have supplementary manuals for the Turbo Diesel engine.

Because the 2.7L Prados weren't big sellers, you may have better luck getting engine specific info from a Hilux workshop manual.**

I haven't read the Max Ellery manual but I've heard there is less content than the Gregory's/Haynes manuals.

    Re: the gen Toyota Manual.
I'd remove that sentence from your post if I were you or big brother might remove it along with the rest of the thread

    Cheers,
    Declan.

      Thanks Declan,

I might just get a Haynes Manual for the Prado and a Hilux Manual for engine stuff

      cheers,

You should be fine with that setup.

The rest of the drive line will be much the same as the 3.4V6, less the duel fuel setup.
