  • Condensation steam/smoke on cold starts?

I have a 1999 snowy edition. The exhaust looks like its seen better days.

Cold starts or even leaving for a few hours I notice I get just condensation coming out. No sweet smell. Its just water droplets and vapour.
It doesnt come out right away. About 40 seconds after the car has started and the exhaust starts to warm up. Just abit then starts to build up to a steady amount.

No definately not head gasket as there is no sweet smell. No overheating , rough idle, coolant mixing in radiator or head with oil. No bubbles etc. All checked.

After a few minutes of driving shes all dry again. From there starting there is nothing at all.

I just notice she condensates more than my other cars. Could it be old tinny rusty looking exhausts do this?

The resonator looks abit sad. The resonator is large. I have a feeling dew builds up inside her.

can someone test there one for me on a cold morning?

about 30 seconds or so white vapour should start to come out slowly. Then build up.

like this video. about 45 seconds in when it starts then builds up. I put a white fabric next to it and nothing. Just moisture.

Stoichiometric combustion of a hydrocarbon (petrol) will produce CO2 (planet killer ) and water in the form of steam. When the steam makes contact with a cold exhaust manifold it turns to liquid water.

        So what fishfinder said..... Normal.
