Good you mentioned that. Yeah maybe my ones were abused before me. I was told how good the 1kzte were thats the reason why I bought them.
I have driven the d4d. They are bloody fast. I havent heard anything bad about them.

Few issues Minh with the D4D's mainly injectors, clutches, Yes they go heaps harder then a 1kz but I would say the 1kz to be more reliable (once head fixed not an issue) but I think myself I read too much about how great the 1kz's were and was possibly expecting more, for an auto it was quit quik off the mark but lost it at higher speeds and for a diesel, well, I was expecting better economy then what I was getting. I had an old 2.8D hilux, was a dog power wise but was fantastic off road except sand, but would always use the same fuel wether I was punching it through the sand, driving round town, towing the camper, off road rock climbing nearly always I was getting 10L per 100 reliable as did 300thou when I sold it and the motor was all orignal. Still going today..My prado was owned by 1 doctor since new and had all its services and genuine parts, but still the head blew at 103k, why I dont know except it was cracked in the same place as everyone elses so to me definately a casting issue by Toyota and the mungrels should have coughed up money to a lot of people to have them fixed, cost me just under 4g's to get it done and never went as good for some reason after it was fixed,.............Regards Steve
