Centre Diff Lock Light comes on intermittently after start up.

G'day, doe anyone know why my Centre diff lock light comes on after start up? Its generally on a cold morning, but it flashes on and off for about the first 2k's. It only comes on for a fraction of a second, then stays off for periods of 10 to 20 seconds.

Wondering if i need to get the transfer case serviced, and am thinking this might be an expensive job.

It sounds more like an electrical fault. Does your Prado have a push-button centre diff lock or is it engaged using the shift lever? It could be the CDL relay flaking out.

Its the TX model, so it has the active traction control gizmos, and yep, push button CDL. Its the active traction control that i am really worried about, hoping that its not that playing up. I'll have a look at the relay, thanks.

our 2002 VX does the exact same thing only for the first kilometer, anyone have any ideas?

Mine dose the same thing..
But only occasionally, can you tell me where the relay would be so I can change it pls.

Hi All, New To the Forum here. Was there ever a resolution to this? I'm have the exact same issue on a recently acquired 2001 VX. I have the Dash Switch for CDL. The CDL works as expected offroad but seems to flash and click the relay behind the dash while it happens then goes away. Any feedback is appreciated.
