90 Series 1998 AIrbags or not?

Hey everyone

This seams like a stupid question but i've allways driven old cars without airbags..

Do 1998 toyota prado's have Airbags!? I have no idea and i want to buy a Bullbar for it so i can fit a winch..But i need to find out if i need to get an airbag compatible Bullbar

I did a search and didnt come up with anything so i thought i'd ask.

Also what do you think about buying a second hand bullbar? worth doing or is it best to go for a new one.
I just won a Tigerz11 12000lbs winch for the car.

The airbags where fitted to the grande models,along with ABS brakes,but on the gxl/rv models the airbag/abs safety pack was an option. The easiest way to identify a prado with airbags is the passenger grab handle on the dash along with the box hole that a tissue box fitted will be delete instead an airbag occupied the same space.My old RV6 had the option and i had fitted a TJM bar that was airbag and winch compatable.

Thanks heaps mate! It has the passenger Dashboard handle and an indent infront of that on the dash board i just saw some strange round plate things possitioned between the bumperbar and the radiator in the front of the car and thought they might be some sort of Crush plate for impacts to trigger an airbag

If airbag fitted it should have SRS (supplementary restraint system) or SRS AIRBAG on horn.

TX model has the bags also

You'll see the sensors in the engine compartment. They look like a horn relay and the cabling is usually covered in yellow plastic.

There's no airbag connection to the bars.
I think you'll find that airbag compatible bars just have more crumple compliance than non airbag types.

Correct, the bar mounts will have a concertina look to them, also the air bags are triggered by a mercury switch.
