I had 97 VX Grande petrol then an 01 Grande diesel. The 97 petrol would come on a tad over empty (going by the gauge) the diesel would be just under a 1/4 on the gauge and the 120 I have now virtually has to have the needle on the empty before it lights up (I actually rand the old owner up to see if it worked he said yep) I was a bit wary the first time doing it just to see if it worked or not. I have had the needle go under empty one day must have been sucking fumes I think. I would never take that chance normally but I was been a tight arse and refused to run E10 shit and wasnt paying for the premium fuel so did just on 30k with it under MT till I come to a servo with normal unleaded. I was local so there were servos around if I did run out lol, wouldnt do it again but running it that low..............Maybe whack a can of fuel in the back (maybe 10L drum) and run it down to see if the light comes on ?? Dont think Ive ever heard of a low fuel light been blown but I suppose it happens. Hey my sister ran around for bloody 15 years in her corolla and that bloody low fuel light was illuminated I reckon for most of its life.....was still illuminated when she sold it...Cheers Steve Its a standard itemFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. On Toyota's the light on average comes on with about 100 km spare. Usually around 10 or so litres. Good place to start is the fuse. If you have run it down while it's on empty check the globe first and if that's ok check you are getting power where the light is fitted. If no power it could be anything from a broken wire to a bad connection or problem with the sender unit.
