The CD player in my stock Prado radio has issues so I will replace the whole unit. The radio is large and has an old school casset player. The size I think is 2 DIN?? Anyhow, if I replace the radio with a standard size radio, a large gap/hole will be left. Anyone have any experience with replacing the old radio? and are there any traps?

If you decide to go down this route, then my recommendation would be to buy a Pioneer unit. Their units are very well built, very reliable and produce an awesome sound, far better than any factory unit. They are available on the Pioneer website and can be had for some very good prices in the form of a refurbished unit, which have a full warranty and free delivery. I have used Pioneer head units in my cars for the last 15 years, all without fault.
No, I have nothing to do with Pioneer, just a very happy repeat customer.Wish List: Late 120 series or 150 series V6 preferably manual, the funds to buy said vehicle
Current ride: MY2002 Mits. Pajero V6 manual With a couple of bits and pieces

Does your old unit have a CD changer unit with it (located under the front passenger seat), if so, and you want to keep that bit, you need to find a new unit that is compatable with the old CD changer unit, I believe they are a Sony unit, so you may want to start there.97 VX Grande, with front & rear air lockers, ARB Sahara winch bar with tigers 11 winch, 2" EFS lift, 265/75/16 Achilles Desert hawk XMT, and more.

Yes mate. Have done this upgrade. Mine is a early gxl which had the radio/ cassette and the cd player fitted under as a separate unit. I bought a single din head unit and fitted a pocket under that, where the cd player was. Used all the factory brackets and screws. I know you can get UHF that have single din face plates that do look nice when fitted. Very easy upgrade. Only problem is you may have to upgrade your speakers after, to get the best from the new system. Goodluck.Last edited by Playdoh96; 24-02-2013, 08:49 PM.96 3.4 GXL, 2" lift, Poly airs in rear, 32" BFG muddies, Lightforce 170's HID's, TJM rack, Awning, Twine on board shower, GME uhf, Dual batteries & monitor, Storage system, ARB fridge, LED rear lighting, Safari snorkel, Brown Davis bash plate, Ironman winch bar, Runva 11xp winch, Roadsafe recovery points, ARB compressor, Tyre dog monitor, AJ's sliders, Hema hn6.
