Dumb question I know but in my case I have no idea lol. where does the seal actually sit? How long would it take to replace? what does a seal cost?
There is a very small amount dripping from the brake drum onto the inner rim, only when parked in the right position. It is diff oil.

Yes it would be diff oil. A new axle seal costs around the $20-$30 mark depending on where you buy it from, the time it takes to replace it depends on your mechanical aptitude.

They are a very fragile seal, if they don't put the axle in carefully enough (without it dragging on the seal) you can damage it.
