  • where is my sub tank guage

    Hi
Can some one tell me where my subtank guage is
I have a 2001prado 90 series and in my book it says it is when my clock is but there is no gauge
I do have a subtank as i have the button for subtank but no idea how much fuel is in it
    HELP

    Welcome.
That's very strange mate. It should be where the clock is, if not I'm guessing/thinking maybe the sub tank may not be original. Is it a GXL OR RV?. Just thinking ""maybe"" its wired to your main gauge. When you switch tanks does the fuel level change?. Just throwing ideas around here.

When you hit the button, does the fuel gauge on the cluster move at all???

Maybe the gauge/clock died and the previous owner swapped it with an RV spec clock? Easiest way to tell would be to take off the fascia and see if a new plug has been grafted onto the wiring loom. A clock/subgauge combo will have 8 pins on the plug. The clock only will have 4 pins. If you have a 4 pin plug with some spare loose wires floating around, you've found your answer

Na mate I quickly got this pic off the net just for the purpose of showing BB64 what the set up is like. I didn't have any pics of the dash of either of my 90's. I think they may be a pair of those slick looking track pants.....Cheers Steve

What's your main cluster section look like?
I'd just pull the dash out and see if there's any wires back there. Maybe someone thought they'd put a clock there inside of having the spare tank gauge?
Pulling the dash out is easy. Just remove the ash tray itself and if you look up into the ash tray mount there will be 2 screws. Just remove them and start pulling the dash out (think there's 6 of those clip things holding it in - 3 down each side).

Do you have two holes in your fuel filler if not then you do not have a a sub fuel tank, gray imports from Japan do not have a sub tank, another clue in identifying a gray import is a small mirror mounted on the L/H front mudguard.

I can see the sub-tank switch in his photo though. So it should have a sub-tank....

Someone could've also just added it there though. Definitely see if there's 2 fuel filler pipes.

That would be pretty pointless, then
