    try this

    g,day mate

sorry you are having trouble with your prado engine !! I guess its the glow plugs are worn or not glowing efficently it can even be a case of the fuse gone for warming up the glow plugs but I doubt it if you take over 4 to 5 sec just to start it !!

try this next time engine cold turn key 3/4 way just before the engine actually turns and hold there for 10 sec and then try starting this way you may get an idea the glow plugs are on there way out !! ITS hard to tell from looking at the monitor !!

    good Luck

      Slow start

Id be checking the battery voltage. If not up to correct voltage which the glow plugs, computer, fuel pump need it will take longer to fire up. I put a new one in my old lux which was a 2.8 without all the electrical crap and made a HUGE difference when starting for the first time after sitting all night. Regards Steve

Yeah could be either the glow plugs or the battery.
If it is the glow plugs you will need a new batttery in the not too distant future cause the starter motor will wear the battery out without the assistance of glow plugs.
Good news is both are fairly easy to change.

another thing to look at is the starter motor.
I had a very similar problem with my old cruiser, could have sworn it was a battery problem, started off jumper leads, & was ok when a bit wormer . Turned out to be worn bearings in the starter, full of mud.
