  • Fuel Tanks in 90 and 120 series

Are the fuel tanks all the same in the 90 and 120 series?
Are the diesel and petrol tanks the same?

I have LPG tank and want to put back in a petrol fuel tank for a Cape York trip in 2015 but finding it hard to get a tank, so I need to know my options.

I would be pretty confident in saying that a 120 tank is not a straight fit into 90 series.

I also would have thought that the rear tank would be readily available from wreckers. there is a fairly recent thread on wreckers and where to source Prado parts. LPG installers would also be a good place to try, although probably not many 90's getting converted nowadays.

Where up Cape York are you heading? Seems like a lot of trouble to go to for a trip where fuel is readily available every few hundred kms. Unless you are headed out across the Gulf I doubt a single tank of fuel is going to be an issue, especially if you keep the gas tank full and keep that for emergencies.

    Cheers Andrew

Last year i got quotes on a rear tank from 3 wreckers in Victoria, and the prices, including freight, was not unreasonable. The only reason i didn't go ahead was because i am unsure if i will keep the car beyond the end of this year.

If you intend on doing remote travel, 4wd systems in Adelaide can slot in a 155lt tank when you pull out the gas tank.... but at $1300........

Like Andrew said, there are enough servo's around. Even when i'm driving up the Stuart Hwy i don't need to use petrol.

      Cheers
