Filling up the diesel fuel tank

G,day Fellas!! 8) :lol:

was wondering if any other members having the same issues i mean i have a 90 series prado according to the manual we should have a 1160 litre fuel tank !! when ever both my fuel needles are down i can only get 130 litres in after dozen time or so the best was 134 litres !! can anyone explain why ? i even ran out of fuel on the sub and still 130 litres combine fuel tanks ???

i have tried many things such as rocking the vehicle at the pump etc

love to have some advice !!

Wow... you could drive forever on that tank :lol: :lol: 8)

My petrol 90 (159lt tank) the most I have ever put into it was 126 ltrs. and from memory I thought I was close to walking to the servo with a jerry can :shock:

My guess is it's either a massive safety margin or over time the gauge becomes less accurate.
I've often wondered if it's worth getting the gauge re-calibrated...

I've found the sub tank gauge to be very inaccurate.
If I run the Sub to empty I get around 580km
And the total I managed before filling up was 1200km

Sorry I cant remember how many liters to fill it after the 1200km but ops:

Most of the time I'm putting in around 130-150 liters.

I'm going to fill it up with Bio Diesel this week & see what happens

I've found on my TD 95 that when the warning light comes on for the main tank I can only get 70-72 litres into it

When the needle hits the bottom line on the sub tank I can only get 48-50 lite into that one.

I've never run either of my tanks dry (ie till car konks out) so can't say exactly how much will fit in from there.

On another subject - when I had a Brown Davis tank fitted to my Defender years ago I could only get 70 liters into it. That was from dead empty - it only had air in it - and David Brown himself swore black and blue that it was a 80 litre tank

when fuel light comes on there is 20 ltres left in main tank hence only been able to fit 70 odd ltres. Always made me wonder but no I know its good cause I can drive another 150-200km to fill up.

I have a 02 TX auto. Only on sunday I drove on the sub till it was on E, fueled up yesterday and put 59 liters in the sub. I to find that when the fuel light comes on the main tank that there is approx 17-19 liters left.
