  • Tyres/Lifting 2000 Prado VX and modification restrictions

Wondering if someone can help me clear up some questions I have re: legalities of increasing tyre size and installing a suspension lift for my 2000 VX Prado petrol?

My Prado has 'active traction control' and I have read that, and subsequently become confused about, there may be legal issues in NSW if I change my tyres from 265/70r16 to 265/75r16 or install a lift.

The plan was to change the tyres from the existing Dunlop Grandtreks that were on it when I bought the Prado to something a little larger with an all-terrain tread. And then down the track to install a 2inch lift.

Will I run in to issues with changes to one or both in regards to either registration or insurance considering the car has active traction control? Is active traction control considered 'electronic stability control' anyway? Or does it not come under the same category and I have nothing to worry about anyway?

From what I can tell, my 2000 VX Prado does not have Vehicle Stability Control, it only has the Active Traction Control.
