Hi guys,
I have issues with my 98 dual fuel 3.4l Prado.
The engine was running ok on petrol- not good or great, but horrible rough and misfiring on LPG.
Some gas guy (the one who installed the system years ago) did do a software update, calibration and cleanup, the pg system is a Diego Elko G3.
That guy didn't fix it, didn't have a clue, was just guessing.
So I went to another guy.
He did some analysis, and the figured out 2 coils were done and the plug leads. Plugs were done at 216k km (now 233k km) and of course still good.
Now that didn't fix the problem,
petrol is now running smooth, and I would consider it good (not perfect, but would you expect from a car that old?). There are definitely no misfires.
But switch it over to LPG and it's as rough as ever.
The new guy will do something on the LPG software.
I'm just not sure where this leads to, is it usual that coils fail?
Might there be some reason to wear them out?
Any idea about the LPG system, it looks like it's running way to low in idle, so basically not getting enough gas in.
It idles about 750 rpm on petrol and lower on LPG. Both seems to be pretty low, wouldn't mind bringing it up to 900rpm.
Really pissed, as they put out the main tank and left it with sub tank petrol, so 60l!
That guy who installed the system was just a dodgy mechanic.
Any idea where to start now?
Thanks for your help!
