Re: Comprehensive Insurance Agreed / Market Value 90 Series

YES! that is what I was hoping I would hear from someone.

I think i will give them a call.. and i'm halfway through my current policy but can't see the point in insuring something for less than replacement value.

I won't ask you... but I presume you are of mature age to get a deal like that?

Did you quiz them on the off road coverage?

They ask you about how many kms a year you do too...don't they?

    Cheers for the heads up

      G'Day Luke,

Shannons never asked about the amount of clicks I do a year. I did over 50, 000 clicks last year. They do however ask you if you're a car enthusiast, ask if you go to car shows and/or buy car magazines. They love it when you ring to tell them of the added accessories you fit to your car. And best of all, you can pay monthly. I choose this option and have it Direct Debited. I pay $70 a month for the Prado, and it insured for $30, 000. I also have a Mercedes which I combined to the policy, this saved me about $48 a year excess on the Prado's Premium. They also like to know that you're car will be garaged. They know that I am in a 4WD club, and don't mind if I take it off-road (that's what they're for isn't it?) I am not one of these people who bought a 4WD to drive around the suburbs. I am in the bush giving it heaps every chance I get, usually twice a month. As it is my daily driver (the Mercedes is for my old man to drive in), I am a fastidious person when it comes to maintaining the Prado. So, I reckon give Shannons a call and see what they have to say.

Yes its that dreaded time of year for me again...

Was totally not looking forward to making the call but now I'm stoked.

Policy came out with value of 15,400 aami not down much on last year and premium $717

Just told them i've been busy and added a few things...

        Bullbar 1000
        Tints 500
        Towbar 500
        Side Steps 500
        Snorkel 500
        Dual Battery 500

Now its insured for 18,900! but its going to cost me a whole $6 more in premium.. $723

Not the cheapest policy but i got a value I'm happy with.. I'm sure they'll be running for excuses to lower the value if I have to claim but they probably would have if it was insured for $9k aswell.

So keep them damn insurance companies honest and list your accessories... ya might be surprised how little it raises your premium... I am definitely very pleasantly surprised

            YEAR - 2002 GXL
            MOTOR - 3.4L v6
            KMS - 215000
            LOCATION - maitland
            VALUE - $18,999 agreed value
            PREMIUM - $1000
            ACCESS - $600
            INSURER - GIO
            AGE - 23

When doing an online quote I set the agreed value on $18,999 instead of $19,000 because it becomes the same price as $18,000.
With the online quote you can tick as many options as they list and not pay any more so naturally I made sure I had everything covered. Instead of renewing last time they sent a quote out for my old car, I went online and did a new quote up and what do you know saved a few dollars and insured it for more.
