Hi Fellas. Anyone ever fitted an exhaust brake to a 1kz-te engined prado? I have a new freebie on my bench off a daihatsu diesel and am considering the benfits of fitting it to tow a large caravan (28 ft). A lot of NZ is stood on end and it would save a good deal of brake use.

Re: Exhaust Brake
Caravan has brakes already. Unless you go for electric discs, the standard overider hydraulics can stop operating when the load goes off. Sometimes on a long grade it would be nice to simply have a gentle hold at around 70 - 80 kms in 4th for the hill without heating up brakes. My interest is in "is there a down side to exhaust brakes on a 1KX-TE"? They are fairly common on 2.8 delta's and mitsi's over here but they are iron head industrial engines. Has anyone been down that track before?2005 100 Series Landcruiser. 4.2 T/D 5 speed auto. LTD c/w AHC/Leather etc.
