  • Bodykit help wanted

So I'm thinking of getting a bodykit for the prado. Saw some pics of this one which has really interested me. If anyone has any info on where I could source the bodykit shown below (or a similar one), I'd love to know!!!

    Re: Bodykit help wanted

I think Japanese vehicle importers would be worth asking, even though those pics are of a Russian Prado, Japan is where you'll find the majority of SUV aero kits. Jaos used to do them, but I don't think they have an Australian distributer anymore.

I'm a bit disturbed at the fact the factory alloy sidesteps were kept and the bodykit moulded around them!

Hey there - that is my prado you are looking at. The side steps - I will convert to the old ones. If you want something like this one - I think I might help you.
http://tuning25.ru/index.php?id=92 - from this company a set of body-kit - cost 15000 rubles - that about 500 USD. Or you can find one on www.yahoo.jp - auction - 250 USD for rear, 320 for side, and 250 for front lip - that is in Japan, I do not know - what you have import customs in Australia. But you want be able to drive in mud
Proud Prado owner since 2007 - mods - 6 speaker system, 2x10" subs, 1,5" dobinson suspension, fleet-guard separator filter, HKS mufler, Pioneer 2-din system, toyota body-kit - rear spoiler.

Looking at the details when passed through Google Translate it comes up with :
                    The cost of parts separately:
                    The front apron 5000 USD
                    The rear apron 5000 USD
                    Two side skirts 8000 USD
It seems it not so much a bodylift but aftermarket panels with probably a suspension lift or am I wrong. The parts above just seem to be in reference to the extended plastic guards for the front, rear and sides.

Well - its just plastic - you put on your bamper - front and back, side panel are just slip-on for the sides, the translation is bit incorrect - the price on the web-site is given in rubles, so that makes 1 USD = 30 rubles - you make the calculation. There is not suspension lift or anything, as for mine - I have a 1,5 inch lift - so that the back - does not bump on bumpy roads - So you got it right - its just an extension - fixed on the bamper with clips.

theres a black 90 with 22inch chromies, lowered that gets around my local area. Not my cup of tea but hey, each to there own. Last time I checked we lived in a free country, and if he wants to put a kit on it then that his prerogative. I dont think he gives a shit what the naysayers think.

                            Mick

MickL - for me Prado - its not for mud-going - I just like big car - with big wheels - in Russia - on the island I live - this is the only means of transportation - around the city, making a full 4wd ride - will cost a fortune overhere - for instance - 2 inch lift dobinson kit - cost 1500 USD, as for major body lift - over thousand, steel bamber - is about 2000 USD - so most of jeep owners in Russia - have such tuning as plastic - not only "turbo hatch/sedan" - most of Prado 120 - have plastic tuning - they come from Japan in such a way. I think everybody has a right to have a car they want - and for sure - do not do any surgecal on their testicals. Cheers

We do live in a free country.... I'm free to have an opinion and state it too, which I did. You're right, Mefestofel doesn't give a shit what I think, just as I don't give one about what he does to his car. It wasn't a personal attack and I'd hardly call it naysaying, it was my tongue in cheek/attempt at humor to express my personal opinion about this type of modification.
