you don't need to UNBOLT anything. they are designed to be removable. it is a bit fiddly though,
the manual explains (sort of) how to do it, but you fold the backrest down, remove the covers on the 'hinge' then release the lock so as to fold it up and fold up the support leg up. then there is a latch underneath at the back which un locks the seat at the 'hinge'. then push the seat forward (should move about an inch) then lift it out.
I did hear the other day that if you removed the 3rd row of seats in QLD you are supposed to get a special compliance plate fitted. Plus if you put them back again after the compliance plate is issued you will need another compliance plate.
Cheers, Leon There's no such thing as a wrong turn... it's just the scenic route!

Depends on the model, my previous prado 97 VX Grande I had to unbolt them you could not unlatch and slide and remove, the current one I have 01 grande (both 90 series) I just lift the lever slide and out they come. Regards Steve

Hi Fellas. Removed my set around 6 months ago just before going for a warrant of fitness. The vehicle inspectors said that they were obliged to fail the Prado under the reasoning that they were unable to test the seatbelts due to the anchor points being attached to the seats. One of the guys told me to simply unbolt and remove one side and the other side just drops down the back of the plastic trim when it is pulled back. He is also a Prado owner and wasn't about to lose any hair over the issue. As long as the seats and all brackets are gone (I covered the rear deck area with some new carpet) and no 3rd row seat belt fixings are in plain view, compliancing and warrants shouldn't be a problem.
