  • A/C evaporator removal

Has anyone had any experience in removing the A/C evaporator in a VZJ95 ? My A/C is only mildly cooling in my 1996 90 series. Compressor is clutching in OK. My air con guy has re-gassed and replaced the receiver drier but system is still not establishing full flow. Next step is to remove the evaporator, clean it and replace the expansion valve. I took out the glove box and it does look potentially possible to remove the evaporator without ripping out the whole dash at mega expense but just wondering if anyone has any experience ?

OK thought I would update this thread for posterity and dissemination of info. It is entirely possible to remove the 90 series evaporator without removing the whole dash. Just remove the glove box, unplug cables, remove the fan assembly and then the evaporator. I replaced mine as well as the tx valve as the existing evap was in very poor shape after 23 years Also replaced the receiver drier, had the system evacuated and re-gassed with leak detection dye. A/C now just like new.

Thanks for updating with the solution. Lots of people ask questions and don't provide further details. Ken.
