I Have a 2002 3.4 manual. Has anyone had to change there clutch yet if so what was your average mileage when it was done.Mine has over 230ooo klm highway kilos and am planning another big trip, dont want to be caught out.

230,000 km on your original clutch? thats amazing. Put that down to not many gear changes highway cruising.
It's really a "How long is a piece of string?" question... it all depends on the life of the vehicle (as you've shown)
In my previous 4wd's I've done one at 170,000 mixed driving/city living/some light towing and one in my Bravo went at 70,000 due to heaps of sand work/load carrying and one bad slip/smoke up when reversing a trailer load of bricks up hill.

Good topic. My 2002 1KZ-TE has got 220000k on the original clutch. First half of its life highway work then second half city and highway. I'm about to haul a camper trailer through the Kimberley for 6 weeks and am seriously thinking of putting a new clutch in her before we go. Any suggestions other than Toyota OE? ( which is obvoiusly a pretty damn good clutch)

Well if I'Ve got 234000 on mine you should be right, and I'm on my way to perth from sydney at chrissy with a camper so we shall see. Hi Shiner. My KZJ95R still all good at 190,000 km. Done heavy towing and apart from the slightly annoying release brg squeak you can hear with the window down, no worries. Cheers, Derb.2005 100 Series Landcruiser. 4.2 T/D 5 speed auto. LTD c/w AHC/Leather etc.Comment

I just replaced my 1999 3.4 litre's clutch at 160,000 km. However, I am really surprised that it lasted this long as in 2000 I burnt it out bad when trying to back my boat. I did not realise that the trailer brakes were on and I tried to reverse over a small gutter. The car has basically been used for towing the heavy boat or lots of off-road work for the last 100,000 km and little normal road use. The clutch of a Prado not used for towing or hard 4WD work should last 250,000 to 350,000 km easy.Michael and Kelly
