I bought my 95 series Prado unknowingly with a knackered cylinder from a glow plug tip snapped off in the combustion chamber reaking all kinds of havoc and the 2nd hand replacement engine I bought interstate turns out had bad blow by. I've had a bit of a mare with this car and am now about to bite the bullet and have the bottom end of the original engine fully rebuilt with quality pistons, rings, bearings etc etc. I'm curious to know what these engines are like from a recond/rebuilt state? Fuel economy (L/100km)? General power and drivability?
I spent thousands $$$ modifying my previous engines with bigger exhaust, Unichip and tune, high flow turbo, snorkel etc etc to get them up and moving not knowing the engines were knackered. So really interested to gauge what to expect from a rebuild. Anyone rebuilt one fo these?
