ok stormy, I give up. please enlighten me as to the hiding place for the wheel cover key. I couldn't find one for mine and went to a locksmith and got one cut for it. luckily I realised I didn't have/couldn't find a key before I needed it with a flat tyre!!!! it was only a week or 2 after getting the key I got a flat.
Well...um....I found it on my wifes keyring.......we got the car second hand with keys.....I do remember getting the cover off before but it has been over two years since I did so....(Damm MT BFG's too damn good!). Anyway I was off to Fraser so I thought, perhaps I should check the spare!

Do you think I could find that key again!? Do you think I knew what it looked like!? Well no I didn't, I had to revert to the VERY LAST resort! ....ask the wife for help..... ops:

Then I get the cover off & of course there is a wheel nut lock on the wheel!? Do I ask the wife again or do I preserver....Could I in all conscience go to Fraser knowing full well I couldn't get the spare off! Whats the chances of getting a flat in over 3000km plus the 4WDriving at Fraser even with the BFG's? BUGGER!

Then my brain finally worked & I tried the ignition key & what do you know - IT WORKED! SAVED AGAIN! PHEW!

    Cheers

And Rogue Aussie have you found the rear cup holders yet........I'm patiently waiting for your reply

I am guessing you meant the 3rd row cup holders that are 'built in' to the sides? I originally thought you meant some 2nd or 3rd row fold out hidden magical usb 2.0 cupholder.

No, I'm refering to the cup holders that are built into the centre console for the 2nd row seat passengers. Not sure if your RV model has them though :?:

Re: And today I learned ..... *3rd Row Seats*

Are you sure you have no cup-holders? They are well hidden, and I would never have found them but my daughter found them after only 2 minutes in the back of the car. I have a 2002 TX, not sure where this sits in the Prado hierarchy?

The cup holder can only be accessed by lifting the upper part of the console, in a lift-and-slide-forward sort of motion (and NOT unlatching the bit that flips up).

What other secrets might there be in Prado, anyone? I have already found the Toyota CD stacker under the seat.

Where does the TX sit in the models for the 90 series anyway, is it a base model or a more snazzy model?

This is not the idiot you seek *waves hand in a Jedi like motion*. Sitting in the garage Leaving for work and I found the bloody cup holders. Newest looking thing in the car. Don't think the previous owner found them either.

Hi Fellas. So - I am not the only nong to have trouble finding the cup holders! I was trying to fix a rattle in the centre console and was absolutely convinced that something was hiding in the top lid ( it must be that fat for a damn good reason). So - I totally dismantled the entire lid. Then the "A-Huh" moment! What a Dick. Was just as well my wife didn't see as I would never have lived that one down. This advise should be on the front page of the handbook (oh - thats right - Macho Prado owners don't need to read handbooks do they). Cheers.

I can only hope that at the very least, my (our) stupidity and pain as detailed in this thread will help others avoid the same self humiliation and doubt that a Prado can inflict on a man's soul.

I have never, until now, owned a vehicle that has made me question my "muchoness". How can I now stand there at a BBQ with beer in one hand and tongs in the other, guesturing wildly with both as I spin wild tales and then say "... and you know what mate, it took me 3 weeks, 2 vehicle books and an internet forum to find out how to remove the 3rd row seats from my rig and that it has CUP HOLDERS". I may as well retire my tongs (BBQ rights) right now and be done with the humiliation.

On a positive note, none of you actually know who I am, I may have to create a new profile and start from scratch. My first post would be on this thread with one word ... LOSERS! :P

If anything, this thread has provided me a laugh and some releif knowing i'm not alone.

The TX is the same as a VX, Just that the T stands for Turbo Diesel and the V stands for V6.
                    The model order was -
RV - 4 cyliner model only
                    RV6 - V6 Only
                    GXL - V6 or Diesel
TX or VX - Diesel or V6
                    Grande - Diesel or V6 (after 1998)
                    VX Grande - V6 Only
97 VX Grande, with front & rear air lockers, ARB Sahara winch bar with tigers 11 winch, 2" EFS lift, 265/75/16 Achilles Desert hawk XMT, and more.

Toyota should have put the 2nd row cup holders for the 120 in the same spot as the 90. Instead, it's in the flip down armrest in the upright of the middle seat. When there are 3 passengers seated in the middle row, they won't have any cup holders at all.
