  • Tripmeter Fault

I have noticed there seems to be a fault with the electronic tripmeters on my 2001 GXL model. It seems to reset everytime I start the vehicle. It is quite a nuisance and makes the tripmeter useless. The odometer works fine. Has anyone had the same experience and does anyone have the fix for this. :?: Regards.

    Re: Tripmeter Fault

The only time I've had the trip meter reset to zero is when I disconnect the battery.
Perhaps the memory power wire (like that on radios to keep presets) or circuit in the gauge cluster circuit board is shot.

        Re: Tripmeter Fault

        Expanding on dhula's suggestion.

Looking at the late model instrument cluster electrical diagram, there are only two power rails that supply the dash. The first goes through the Gauge Fuse which is controlled by the ignition switch. The second is from the Dome fuse, which is always active.

So if a memory power line is needed, it would be using the Dome fuse, that's the first thing I would check. Do your reading lamps work?
