I remember reading an instal post some time ago for a unit of that age, i remember that the main problem was cutting the facia as the head is wider. But other than that its pretty straight forward. Have a look through the old posts...... its there somewhere with pic's.
I just have one question. Why would you want to go through the trouble of retrofittoing the OEM Toyota 120 radio when you can get much better aftermarket units that bolt to the same mounts as the factory radio in your 90?
Prado GX ´97, 1KZ-TE, 38" tires, Hella and IPF lights and a lot more stuff.
yeah, in my opinion an after market system would be a bettar choice, i did mine not to long ago, managed to find some wiring adapters to, took all of about 10 mins total to do the install, it also gives a better quality sound and there are planty of features you can get on them, all depending on ow much you want to spend, i have even seen them running windows xp with a touch screen...great for running gps software i guess

YES its a very easy job. All you need is a stanley knife, Screwdriver & a thin piece hard plastic. AND ENOUGH TIME TO DO IT CORRECT.
As it only involves 4 small cuts / 2 each side of the face, Due to the controle knobs needing half inch extra space, Mark the cutting with texta, Take your time. Looks great whendone,Remember you can always cut more, But you cant replace what you have cut OFF.
Pins are the same / Just 2 mountain screws each side. Cost you at leasd $500.00 if you have someone do it for you.
Your dash is just cliped on. Take it easy -A little at a time- starting from the top. Work your way around the whole face. IT WILL POP OUT.
