Those photos are from the Fun Race 4x4 race in Venezuela. They need to have the windows down so they can have the rope on the navigator's hand so the car doesnt wander off the established crossing(that wouldnt be nice..). Those cars are solely used on that competition, that in particular is the Extreme category, so they take a hell of a beating, but you can tell from the pics.....
We get to see heavily modified Prados here, mostly the 2 door 2.7 I4 model called "Meru". Land Cruisers down here are rarely stock, mostly for overland use, others for appearance. Some exceptions are used in competition (like the Fun Race).
