buyying first truck need some advise

Hi Guys im thinking of buying a 98 prado and this being my first truck i'm after advice i have a young family with one child and we wanna start to get away camping abit more off road insted of going to camping parks and being around 1000 other ppl
the prado im looking at has about 118 k on it if any one can give me some advise on the prado good and or bad i would welcome it

is it petrol, diesel, auto manual, is it std or modified. cheers samo

its a petrol 5 spd manual and no mods

If the Prado has a bullbar check for cracks in the engine bay firewall. See forum:

Mine has an Irvin alu bull bar and has hairline cracks in the firewall and radiator support which I filled with quicksteel. No probs so far when offroad. My Prado was an ex mining vehicle so it had been used in rough conditions.

Had to replace most of the suspension as well as the bushes, glad I did anyway as it improved handling greatly. Major cost would be the front lower control arm bushes.
