This is what I love about the petrol prados sooo much. the 5VZ-FE and the 1GR-FE are so damn reliable. Never owned a car that I can feel so confident.
I will be keeping my car as long as I can.

My 09 GXL has been the only car (in about 10 I've had new) that's never had a warranty issue. It's now done 46k (10k off-road) and hasn't missed a beat.

I love it so it will only be a crash or some other terrible event that will see us part.

before the prado i had a gu patrol 4.5 petrol.I had for 7 years and done 102000kms..it was imaculate
i look after my cars...it had no modifications or acceessories fitted except of a unichip....they gave me
18500 when i bought the prado....with the prado i have spent about $10000 including gas conversion..
i am going to drive it to the ground (enjoy it to the max) before i trade it in....because i will never get my
money back, so why should someone else enjoy it (i look after it).....and i love the shape (better than the 150).

Why'd you go for a little Prado? Is there anything you miss about the GU?

ive had my 2002 advantage 3.4 since new. 9 years & 83000km of trouble free motoring (thats what servicing a toyota by the book gives you). i ventured away from toyota for a short stint after a trouble free 80 series, i wont be making that mistake again. it is with sadness that the time has come to flick off the prado. unfortunitly the 95 series lacks the internal space i require for camping gear (40lt engle takes up half the room on its own) so im off to join the 100 series club. i wish the 95 had held its price like the 100s have, ouch!

I have owned mine +4 years now (+100 tkm), and I have been very pleased to it. Although I have changed cylinder hear twice (the first was chinese copy).

I have modified it every year, so it feels fresh all the time. I think I´ll keep this to the end.

I've had my 2005 Prado since new. It only had 9 km on the clock when I picked it up.

It has now passed the 310,000 km mark with very little probelms. The most serious was caused by driver showing off. Jumped it on Fraser Island and craked the sump with the front diff.

The "PRADO-3" number plate was off my previous 2000 Prado. I lost the plates in a property settlement with the ex, but managed to keep the Prado.

I don't intend on getting rid of it until a few years befor I retire, that means about another 10 years before the PRado retires.

It should then have more km on it than my LN46 Hi-Lux (655,000 km) did when it went to the big 4wd track in the sky.

I bought my 98 GXL in February 2007 with 130,000km on it. It's now up to 255,000km. In that time I've had to replace an alternator (didn't stop me though. I charged the battery and drove another 600km to somewhere that could fix it.) I've also had to replace a radiator and 2 upper trailing arms for the rear left side I snapped one of them of Fraser Is, then had Ultra Tune fit a replacement. The replacement completely fell off "unnoticed" sometime during a 6 month period. A Toyota mechanic noticed it was missing when doing an inspection. My air-con made a pulsed ticking sound for a couple of days before it failed a few years ago. But apart from the alternator failure and an old dead battery at some stage a couple of years ago, the car has started Johnny on the spot first time and everytime and idles smooth as. It took me 4 years before I had TJM start to kit my car out for me for my Cape York trip in 5 weeks time. I just wish I had all the mods fitted way earlier. I'll keep my Prado for a long time yet. I've been saying I'll keep it for 10 more years approx for the last 3 years. I'll probably still be saying that in another 5 years. I just love the look & feel of it and the way it drives. They look great lifted with aggressive tyres. I just wish I bought a roof cage for it years ago as I've loaded it to it's absolute max with space a handful of times and the cage makes a huge difference with freeing up boot space.

Bought my 95 at ~260Km and now at ~305km after new clutch and timing belt but hoping to get another 100 or so yet before I have to move on.

95 series are a great car and if you look after them you should get good value from them.
