  • Front chassis bumper mountings

I'm looking at getting a front bumper or hidden winch mount. And, I want to make sure that it will be compatible with the chassis front end. I'm under the impression that this changed around 2000 or 2001, when they added airbags. Also, I'm not sure if the Aussie models are different.

So, I'm showing some pictures, below, of the front. This is from my UK spec 2001 Landcruiser 90 (Colorado) GX D-4D.

    1. This is a picture of the front, with the original bumper removed. On the driver side (left in picture), I have removed a small metal V-shaped 'extension' to the frame, that sits just in front of the flimsy bumper. It looks like it's designed to get crushed, in the event of a crash. It remains attached on the passenger side (right in picture).

    2. This is a close up of the driver side frame and attachments. Note how the front metal bracket protrudes a bit on all the edges. It is welded to the frame.

    3. Same thing, even closer, looking from the bottom.

    4. Same thing, slightly different angle.

Let me know if this looks the same or different from what you have, and what year/model your vehicle is.

    Cheers,
    BlueRock
