  • has anyone done any mods to their seats?

The only thing i been asking myself these past 10 years is why the hell toyota could not make the 90 series seats more a bit more confortable..,i've lived with it for 10 years but i can tell you that after driving for around 2 hours my back starts to hurt pretty bad, and i try to adjust and decline the seat in a "relaxed position" but still i recognize the seat it abit rough and hard... ive driven the 120 and 150 series and the seats confort is so good, you could drive for many hours and still not feel stressed or unconfortable.

so has anyone done any mods to their seats? to make them abit more confortable? maybe change the material or fitted a diferent seat?

Certainly an improvement worth looking into... can't help with any info though
    Cheers, Leon

I find mine to be quite comfortable actually, even if driving all day. Definitely better than our Forrester.

I agree with glen_ep, we also have a Forester and the Prado seats are much more comfortable. We have done many 8 to 10 hour day drives and I have never had cause to complain about how I felt.

I had a leather seated Forrester for seven years without any problems. Traded it in on Prado VX also with leather and after an hour on highway my arse goes to sleep and I have to walk around a bit. Maybe I'm getting old.

          Cheers.

Hi Fellas. Would have to say I can end up driving my 95 for up to 6 hours with comfort - no issues apart with the usual edge of the seat wearing through the material. One of the more comfortable vehicles I have owned. Cheers, Derb.

I have to agree with the OP. I've owned many vehicles, and the Prado's seats are the worst by far. Not very comfortable at all, I really miss the comfort of my Jeep. If it wasn't so pricey I would consider aftermarket seats from ARB, etc.

My drivers seat in the 120 D4D is creaking and i would imagine broken so needs repair, so much for good seats. I must admit they are comfortable though.

I had to fix mine a few times, it cracked in the centre of the backrest.
Then under the seat itself there is an L shaped reinforcement to stop the seat flexing under sideload, this also cracked at the bend and needed to have a bracket fitted to reinforce it.
The seats are comfortable but the addition of a sheepskin cover made them really comfy.

Hi Fellas - A ticklish question - What is the average tare weight of the drivers breaking these seats? I am around 85 kg and have done around 150k (total mileage now 245k) in my 90 with no breakages. Just a thought.............

My seats are very comfy, I have no problems doing a 10-12hr non stop drive, maybe you need to adjust the seat better, or you seat cushon is worn.

I've done drives as long as 10 to 13hrs with a few stops in between and I found the seat really comfy. I'm 84kg so not the heaviest bloke around.

Who ate all the pies? Maybe me! LOL.
I'm 103kg most of the time.
I stil think the seats are a bit lightly built, it cracked where the adjuster for the lumbar support goes through the side of the backrest.

WHAT are you suggesting ya skinny 4r5ed little bugger

Actually, I have gone from 86kg to 105kg in the last 6 months, the seats get better all the time as my fat rear slowly moulds the highly stressed material and components.
