I like that. Nice job. I'm making something similar, but I'm keen not to waste the space at the sides over the wheel arches. As mine is a 'shortie' I don't have the luxury of the extra space in the boot. Not got the draws made up yet, just finishing the frame at present. It will be a completely flat deck across the full width with a drawer underneath.

                    Re: rear draw system

Thanks. Well, that's a leading question. I don't know really. I guess I'll know - when I can't do any more. I don't really need a fridge here in the UK as we have shops every 500 yards. But I would like to put in an inverter for 240v and a water tank if I can. I need to sort stowage arrangements for kit, like ground anchors etc and fit a rifle rack of course. I have to finish off the sides with some more trim too. But it's pretty much there. I always find that it's finishing off that the less interesting bit. That what my Missus says too, but that's a different story.

                        Re: rear draw system

Well originally, I had a slide in space under the rear deck where I used to put rifles. But when I put the drawers in, my intention was to have one of them as a rifle drawer. Unfortunately, the runners don't allow the drawer to come out far enough to get them in and out easily. So I shall fit a rack to the headboard inside the cab. I wanted them out of sight. But I shall have to put them in a case in the back and just get them out and ready when hunting.

Don't know whether to buy one or have a go at making one.

You're not telling me that this is unusual behaviour are you? I use my truck for getting to where I need to go - shooting.

Hope I didn't offend you, I just found it funny because you were so matter of fact about it... like we all had one in the back of the Prado.

If you're a hunter then I guess it's not unusal to have a gun rack fitted...

Lordy, No Mick. Take more than that to offend me.

But don't you all have gun racks fitted. Where else would you keep your rifle?

Actually I did think that you may have slightly more liberal gun laws down there. We have the tightest in the World, but there are still places where you can enjoy yourself free from persecution by non believers. But we don't have quite the wide open spaces that you have. We're not allowed a firearm for personal protection here, but you have wild animals - crocs and the like. Are you not allowed to carry something?

Anyway, I take you point about the rack. The Guys on the UK forum do some of this stuff too and I kinda assumed ....

                            Regards

They are quite tuff here. Since the Port Arthur massacre they have really tightened things up. Now don't quote me as I'm not a gun owner but... pump action shot guns, semi auto of any type, rim fire and magazines that hold more than 5 rounds are all illegal. It's reasonably difficult to get a licence and when transporting guns they need to be in a specialised lock box and I believe the ammo and breach block need to be locked up separately.

We're not allowed a firearm for personal protection here
Either are we... also Mace, Pepper spray, body armour, flick knives and certain blade lengths, expanding battons, knuckle dusters, throwing stars, nun-chucks (sp?) most martial arts weapons, combat and fighting knives are all illegal.

                              crocs
                              Protected species......

Are you not allowed to carry something?
In a nut shell...no... unless your a professional hunter, farmer or in a club/association

To be honest it's easier to obtain a rifle/hand gun illegally on the black market than it is to get one through the legal channels.
