Hi Folks! Well, I have searched for two days now and cannot find anything to answer my question.
I have a 3.0 TD 1KZ TE diesel Prado (2001) fitted with a snorkel. Where the pipe from the snorkel enters the air filter box the joint was plastered with black mastic. I was giving the engine bay a good clean up the other day and noticed that the mastic does not fill the join UNDERNEATH the pipes. I took it all off and there was no gasket in sight - I believe they originally came with a naff fluffy sponge type o ring?
What do you guys use to seal the two pipes to make the join water and dustproof please? Pic attached. I have contemplated more mastic, a pipe with clamps and even an old bicycle inner tube!
