Ok, we all know by now that there is a write up on another site about how to extend your diff breathers but nothing on PP. So rather then plagiarise I thought I'd record my efforts and post the details up here. Anyway, here goes ...
My Vehicle: 2000 RV 3.4ltr V6 (90 Series)
Tools Used / Needed:
+ Stanley Knife
+ Flat Blade Screw Driver
+ Side Cutters
+ 14mm Ring Spanner
+ 11mm Ring Spanner
+ Permanent Marker
+ Safety Glasses
+ 1 pair suitably rated vehicle ramps
Parts:
+ 1/4" Male-Male Barbed Brass Hose Fitting
+ 1/8th BSP - 1/4" Male Barbed Brass Hose Fitting
+ 1/2 doz Cable Ties
+ 2.5m 1/4" Fuel Hose (or Similar)
+ 2 x Z92 Fuel Filter (or Similar)
+ Hose Clamps x 5
+ Silastic
FRONT DIFF
You can see in this picture, the factory raised diff breather. Just simply pull the valve from the hose.
Place a hose clamp over the existing hose and insert the 1/4" M-M fitting. Tighten the hose clamp to secure the fitting in the hose.
Connect the extension hose to the fitting and secure in place with another hose clamp.
Run and secure the hose in place with cable ties. Where you run and secure it is entirely up to you, but you can see where I have run it in the image below.
Measure and cut the hose to length. Use one of the filters to guage length and position before cutting.
Place another hose clamp over the hose then insert the fuel filter into the hose (if using similar hose to me you will find it to be extremely tight and may require a little heat to soften the hose). Secure in place with the hose clamp and secure in place with a cable tie.
I have written the date, kilometers and "F/DIFF" on the filther in permanent marker, not necessary but helps me to remember.
REAR DIFF
Ok, the front was easy but the rear was a pain in the ass ... until I shot down to Supercheap and picked up some vehicle ramps.
N.B. - This is where eye protection is good. I had a lot of dirt and s*** falling in my eyes whilst routing the hose and messing with the rubber grommet.
Put the back end up on the ramps, this will give you much better access to the rear breather. You can see in the pic below the location of the rear breather (the photo was taken from the passenger side looking towards the rear of the vehicle).
Here is a better image of the rear breather itself. If your vehicle is as dirty as mine it would pay to give it a clean around the breather now to avoid contaminants being knocked/brushed into the diff when your remove the breather. Using a 14mm ring spanner, remove the old breather.
Here is a picture of my old rear breather, as you can see, I doubt it was actually doing anything
The replacement fitting can be secured with an 11mm ring spanner (lost mine somewhere so made do with a small shifter.
Connect and secure the hose to the fitting with another hose clamp. I left a "maintenance loop" so as to avoid the hose being torn off with drive train travel over rough terrain.
I routed the hose through the existing hose loop and over the sway bar. I figured this would keep it relitively well protected from getting snagged on braches etc.
It then passes over the corner of the fuel tank guard were it is secured in place with another cable tie.
Using the stanley knife, cut a slit in the rubber gromment big enough to push the hose through. Try and keep the hole as small as possible. Don't pull the hose tight, leave some slack under the vehicle. Again, this will allow for drive train travel over rough terrain. I used Auto Silastic, a fair bit of it too, and smeared it over the hose and hole to prevent water, dust etc from getting in
I needed a staightened coat hanger to fish the hose out of the bottom of the jack/tool bay. Once again, measure and cut the hose (cut it longer then needed and simply push the excess into the bottom of the bay). Place a hose clamp over the hose and fit the fuel filter. Secure with the hose clamp and secure in place with a cable tie. Again I noted date, kms and "R/DIFF" on the filter.
JOB DONE
 Anyway, hope this helps ... someone
