I am not sure it is ok to write this mod here. May be this thing was done somewhere else on this forum but I did not find it. If it happens, Mod please remove this topic for me.
It was pain in the car when I have to crank the window to take the ticket from ticket machine in shopping/market center.
I spent a lot of time to find out the solution to get automatic windows for my baby RV6 97 3.4 manual, but it seems it is really hard to do so.
There are a lot of expensive parts (regulator, switch, automatic windows door covers...) and rare to find on sale. Of course, from dealer they can have those parts but the price will be a big part of the $$ I spent to buy the car.
Finally, I decide to go with an aftermarket automatic windows kit.
The item arrived at my house was a very big box
The system comes with 4 different illuminated switches, there is one master switch which can control all other doors. Also there is a on/off switch on master switch to on/off all others except the master one.
It has 4 same size motor and the mechanism to rotate/crank the windows. So it is pretty easy that you can install whatever motor in whatever side, it does not affect your result.
It took me 1 hour to check all the parts work together. The instruction is quite straight forward without fearing the installer
Then, start with some need tools:
- driller.
- screw driver.
- conduct tape.
It took me almost one day to install all things into all 4 doors.
To install those ones:
1- Remove door cover.
2- Using driller to take right hole for the motor.
3- Put the motor on the right position, check the motor working well before going ahead. Otherwise, change the position to put the motor on.
Make sure there is no conflict between the motor and the windows mechanism.
3- Run wiring from the master to all other doors, it is amazing that the length of the wiring is enough for the car, I don't need to put any wiring more into the system.
It took me almost 1h only to put 10 big wiring from the master piece through the rubber cover on the driver door side, really pain in the xxx. For another door, the job is much easier.
Running all wiring under the floor, dashboard, so nobody see the wiring.
The motors work perfectly and quite enough. Even if comparing with the motor in my Honda Civic 1996, it is less noise.
Also, it looks very nice on the door cover now. I am very happy with the result as now I can control windows easily. Many people who don't know much about Prado think that this system is original one in my car.
Of course, it is not original. But it does not look bad at all. And the price is absolutely cheap: just $140 total shipping and item (I tried to buy only the door cover for automatic version, they asked $150 only for only 2 covers. $#@#$%) :lol:

PS: after installing, there are a lot of spare parts from the kit that I haven't used them. Believe me, they will send a lot of spare parts to you, especially screws, so you don't have to buy anything more.
Now I am confident to install/show you the way to deal with this system to any car in Sydney area :P
