    Lovell's Suspension

    Zordo,

What is the ride like unladen with the heavy duty kit installed. If I am towing a Jayco Offroad Eagle for an extended period of time over all times of terrain, would you think poly airs may be of assistance. Will it sag in the rear with the weight?

    Cheers

    Graeme

Like I said in my previous post Lovells h/d coils ride well in a 90 series.
Obviously they will be firmer than medium coils.
If you have a deisel & a bullbar go h/d front.
Using h/d coils means you don't need poly bags & no they wont sag.
I have fitted numerous 90 series with h/d coils & everyone loves them.
I have no hesitation in recommending lovells coils on any prado

I was talking to my mechanic this afternoon about going HD's in the front as well as the back.

I don't consider the ride with the HD's to be rough one iota. I'm laden with about 100kg's of camera and lighting gear during the day but the ride to and from the studio each day and around on the weekends is unladen.

I have medium OME springs all round as this is how I bought it. The front has duel batteries and I'll be getting a smart bar soon, so I'll leave the front alone. However I'll be taking off next year for 6 months towing a fully loaded Trak Shak (guessing approx. 1 tonne), with drawers/recovery gear etc in the back.

Have been thinking about putting HD springs in the back. Online I can get Lovells for $150 pair, EFS $160 and Kings Springs nearly $200. Got a quote locally for OME and $350 pair

Just thinking if I was towing a big van ( 2+ tonne) I'd do it no worries but for a camper I don't know. Had a 2 week trip mid-year towing another camper trailer, probably not as loaded as we will be next year, but the Prado carried & towed beautifully.

          Thoughts anyone?

          Cheers,

          Mark.

My HD springs were about $150.00 over the counter local in Brissie... which part of the world are you in?

                Lovell's Struts and Shockers

                Morning everyone,

I have nearly deceided on my new suspension just have one more question. I know Lovell's spring are good and have been around for ages. Lovell's struts and shockers aren't very well known, well at least not here in Vic. What is the quality like? and the longevity.

I think the whole kit is value for money. H/D all round with 2" lift.

This is the bit I couldn't go past for what I needed and where I would be going (ie. no runs of 100's of K's of corrugations)

I just checked and they were installed late Aug 07 and have been on for 13000klm's now. Haven't sagged at all since the first week or so when they were settling in.

I have commented many times that they feel great on and off road.

A recent observation was the recent trip to Cooloola with my mate from Adelaide.
Last time we did that trip I couldn't keep up with his 80 series on the black top through all the winding roads leading up to the dirt. He's lifted, oversize tyres, runs gas/petrol, has bull bar/winch so you expect my stock, at that stage, Prado would be better on road.... nup!!

But now, a different story... he actually commented that he couldn't keep up just after I had been joking with my passenger 'remember last time?... I couldn't keep up with him )

Off road, I put them to a good test at Xmas on the Overlander Xmas gathering up at LCMP... one person commented on how much travel there was at the back end, actually that was wengnuts on this forum.

I got them installed for around $800.00. It would normally be around $800 + install but a mechanic mate of mine put them in for me and used his trade discount to purchase them.
                  Cheers, Leon

I also like the fact the warranty is in writing... 2 yrs/40,000 klms...

I know other brands keep telling you... don't worry, ours are the best and we always replace or repair the occasional one that needs it...

... well, put it in writing if they are that good.

I'm not spending double the money on someone's 'good word'.
                      Cheers, Leon

                        Hi Snaga,

Done the same thing as you on my TX! Got the Lovell kit from 4wd trekmaster great guy! Fitted them with some great help from a freind! Amazing lift and just great handling! Can't wait to get off road! For the value I would recommend Lovells!

Will get the pic's up soon!

Thought I'd see how the suspension was fairing since I had the tape measure out this arvo...

                              Original measurements for Aug 07...
