The saga continues! I asked my suspension bloke to check all the bushes under the Prado while they are replacing my shocks and front springs today. I got a report back saying everything is pretty much worn out.
1. Steering rack bushes. Would explain the rattle over bumps and the free play at low speeds.
2. Upper and lower control arms. There is apparently left and right movement (outwards and inwards) in the two mounting bushes on each side. May explain a bit of banging going on over bumps at speed off road.
3. All linkage bushes for these components.
4. Rear stabiliser bushes. Will do these myself
5. Front sway bar D bushes. Will do these myself
1-3 are being replaced with Superpro poly bushes. After reading advice on here I'll replace 4 and 5 with OEM to maintain ride comfort and flex.
Cost is 1200 including parts. Would have been 1700 with the bits I'm going to do myself. I hope I'm not being screwed. The guys seems fairly genuine and charges 110 an hour for labour (welcome to Canberra). If you have read my other post "KYB shocks= Bad" you would have read my story about the incorrect fitment of parts for my suspension from this place. This bloke has agreed to fit new Koni shocks and new HD Lovells springs in the front for free, so I can't really complain. I might ask him to knock an hour off if I'm feeling greedy.
