  • Suspension Upgrade Options

    Hi All,

I have recently become the owner of a 1998 GLX 3.4 V6. I got it at the right price despite it needing a few small things recitified (mostly just wear and tear....main mechanicals are sound).

Previous owner (whom I know) replaced rear shocks with heavy duty units about 15000 km ago. The rest, front and Rear, are factory original (yes...the front is probably feeling flat with 350,000 km on the clock!)

Spoke with local 4x4 shop who suggested replacing front shocks with OME Sports and 50kg springs (40mm lift), and to replace rear springs with matching 40mm lift springs and leave the newly replaced shocks for now. There is only an aluminium bollbar and no dual battery or winch so no need for heavier springs (I believe).

    Quoted price around $1400.

What I would like to know is if there are other options that Owners have fitted that may give a similar result for less $$.....or is the OME solution a pretty good one?......How have others found their OME setups and would they choose another path in next time around?

I am sure that the OME package isn't the only option so keen to hear what others have done.

For further info....the vehicle is primarily used as a daily drive with a few fishing/camping trips thrown in towing a 3.8m tinny. Will not be used as a 'hardcore' 4x4 but will see the odd track and trail.

    Keen to hear opinions....

    Cheers,
    Bart.
