    That price for the genuine boots isn't as bad as I thought. I had been quoted $125 per boot previously and I'm sure they weren't quoting genuine parts.
    Can I ask how much they charged to move the circlip on the struts ?

      Very little, my mechanic was servicing Daughter #1's car plus fitting the new CV boots to mine on the same day so didn't hit me for too much

      I don't think it would be a difficult job to do yourself if you have the right tools & equipment, seems to me that removing the struts is a fairly straightforward job although you will need spring compressors, or get your local suspension shop to compress them & change the circlip for you :wink:

        Yeah there's something funny going on here with the pricing on genuine boots; not that long ago Toyota were quoting ridiculous prices, my mechanic told me they were well over $200,that's why he suggested going for an exchange drive shaft complete with aftermarket CV boots ($195), a lower price than for a genuine boot kit only :shock:

        However, recently Windsor Toyota quoted $144.20 for a genuine CV boot kit so that's why I went for that (Penrith Toyota quoted $166, pays to shop around :shock: :wink: )

        I would guess that Toyota were not selling too many boot kits at their previous prices...........

        ........& I can also tell you that there is a big difference in the materials used in the Genuine & aftermarket boots, just have a feel of them & you'll know 8)

          Looking at the photo of the bilsteins the one on the drivers side looks as though the bottom bush is flogged out, it may be the angle of the pic but in the other photo of the passengers side that one looks ok. I have just fitted king springs 50mm lift and tough dog shocks to my swb 90 tonight and have gone from 740mm front to 770mm and on the rear gone from 770 to 820, i have used the lwb springs as there isn,t a listing for swb and the weight difference between the two vehicles is supposed to be only 40 kg so will see how it goes, now to find some decent rubber to put on it.
          96 SWB, fire engine red, turbo,auto,
          50mm king springs, tough dog shocks,
          13mm strut spacer, 17 x8inch wheels incubus poltergeist 17x8
          265x70x17 Kelly TSR, factory sunroof,
          Dual batteries, gme 3220 uhf, turbo timer
          , ipf extreme spots, cibie super oscar spreads converted to HID.
          Factory alloy bar, Safari snorkel,
          Table on rear door, Rear work light
          300watt inverter, high lift jack
          Wish List (winch and front air locker)

              i found my front inner CV boots have split since putting bigger springs in. How are you measuring your heights ?, from the bottom of the rim to the lip of the gaurd? i;m getting a measurement of roughly 810 taking into account half an inch less because i have 17 inch rims, but then if you have 15's my measurement in comparison to yours is 795. but my CV angle looks nowhere near as dramatic as what some have in your pictures. I have the kings 50mm lifted fronts but HD's. I don't mind the ride i get, i think it is a good compromise between handling ride and height. I have dobinson struts.




              i beleive mine have only split because they where stretch out from where they sat for years, i am going to try the toyota genuine split boots..
