Question is can I buy 4runner bilsteins from the US and fit them onto my Prado
I have seen them on ebay and they look to be 1/2 price same serial nos. as here
I have bought many things from the US but this forum is the 1st time Ive heard customs mentioned

You can... but with shipping costs I can't imagine you're saving much over the local version, personally I wouldn't bother importing anything unless it was unavailable here. I should also point out that the 4Runner is a lighter vehicle than the Prado, not substantially, but if you have a diesel engine, steel barwork, winch, rear drawers or anything like that, the US shocks may be valved too lightly (this is only what I've heard on the grapevine, so don't take it as gospel, I didn't really notice with mine but I have 2.5" dia shocks and very little weight on the front, so not the same situation).

      Re: US products

Hey Guys I still havn't bought anything yet, but I the Sonoran Steel 1.2 Suspension kit, seems to be very good money for value $1,239.00USD which in currently $1339.00AUS, plus shipping which would probobly be a couple hundred on top of that.

This kit appears to be the way to go, and is a proper suspension lift kit which offers the adjustable panhard. And uses 80series springs, so I reckon that the valving for the shocks would be similar. What's everybody else thoughts

          Re: US products

I think I might, as the suspension on my prado is pretty shagged at the moment, and the king springs are pretty harsh. Now I just have to convince the missus that it's a good idea.

            Re: US products

Well I've contacted Steve from Sonoran Steel. Since my prado is about 200Kgs heavier then the 4runner, he going to send me tokico shocks which are higher valved then the bilsteins. I wasn't to sure about the tokico shocks as they are used OEM shocks, but these ones are aftermarket and everyones seems to think that these are a very high quality shock. Shipping is looking to be around $700, plus import tax. So it's looking that it's going to be around $2000. It's quite a lot of money, but a normal lift with shocks and springs in australia will set you around $1600. And that's without a panhard rode, modified bump stops, and mounts that modify the the sway bar (as you can tell I'm brain washing myself).

It should be interesting to see how this all works out. If it works out well, I might order some Front Upper Control Arms, and Heavy Duty rears Links around Christmas then the suspension should all be sorted out.

Hey Andy how'd you go with the lift? I've seen in another post that you've installed and are happy with it, but I haven't seen much else. Is it still going strong? How does it compare? Have some flex pics?
