Not long before Christmas i noticed some cracks just above the bead on one of my near brand new Cooper ST's. I finally got round to getting them back to the Distributer here in Canberra and he took one look and said it will be replaced under Warranty 100%. Ive done around 6000k's and Except for this im Very happy with them, have been offroad, have been to Melbourne and Sydney and lots of Driving around Canberra. Ill post some pics up, anyone else had this problem or seen it??

 I thought I saw that very thing on my tyre today.... turns out it was a puddle of water that had collected on the rim ops:
I will however... be having a closer look tomorrow

Those photos have jogged my memory. I had a set of the old Cooper AT's on my previous vehicle, all four of them had similar splits all around the bead.

I never bothered with the warranty as I sold the vehicle not long after. I'm not sure it would have been honoured anyway as I hadnt rotated them according to requirements and had done a lot of off roading on them.

            goanna,
Good to see that the tyre was replaced under warranty.

Can't help but ask the question "Have you run the tyres at extremely low pressure" as the cracks indicate that can often the result of low pressure's :?:
That area (at the edge of the bead filler) is the hinge or severe flex area.
If you look at the first photo closely you will see what looks like a black line on the rim, could well have been from the tyre flexing that far :?: :?: :?:

Also appears to be a black line near the tread on the other photos (another indication of extremely low pressures?

            Cheers,
            Detective Fazza :P

In regard to pressures, when i picked them up they were up near 50psi, dropped them back to about 38-40 for normal use. The lowest they have been is 30 psi when i had them offroad. The marks are all proberly from the misses who uses curbs as ripple strips now!!! Cooper said straight up it was a fault, he mentioned it happens every now and again, called it bead cracking or something.
