i am looking at getting 4 AT tyres for my Grande. my spare is a 265 70 r16 bfg at.
currently got 2 hankook and 2 grandtrecks HT's (came that way from the dealer) got quoted $333 per tyre to upgrade to 265 75 16 goodyear duratrecs ($1665) way out of my budget atm although they look great,

just wondering if anyone knows if i could get 4 BFG at's or simular in 265 70 16 thort i could look into silverstones but havent heard much about them.
Anyways might have to stick to the HTs unless my budget improves.

Don't like your chances of picking up 4 tyres of that size for 800 bucks! Unless your buying second hand from a mate...

they are the same tread pattern as the BFG AT's and I've heard a few good reports and they are a lot cheaper then the BFG's

There are a couple of cheaper options (check eBay) that you might be lucky to pick up for $250 a tyre.
However, I'd never skimp on the only thing keeping you on the road. Save up a bit longer and spend the $350-$400 per tyre on a good, well known and reliable brand.

As mentioned though, your best bet to get good quality tyres at that price is to try second hand. You'd be surprised at how often good tyres with 80-90% tread on them come up for sale. Again, check eBay but also call some tyre shops, some specialise in selling second hand

I got 2nd hand AT's from these guys a few years ago for $50 a corner fitted.
If your not in a hurry they'll put aside tyres to make a matching set for you.

I scored 5 x 265/70x16 Maxxis A/T'S Tyres and Alloy rims for $1000 @90% from a wrecker.
I had been looking for a while and got lucky.
Just keep hunting.

I put some terra track a\t 265/75/16 om mine for $800 fitted ,i`m in qld on the sunshine coast.have done about 15 to 20000 k`s on them and u can barely tell .I have been verry happy with them ,i have been out to glass house in mud,rock sheves most terrains and they have been excelent. i have just been letting them down to around 18 to 20 pounds and i hav`nt been stuck yet, I actually had to pull a gq patrol out of a mud hole three times last time we went out (it`s a mate runs 33"miuddies and a 4"lift and then i drove straight thru , he was a bit ops: ..Anyway they were the cheapest and most aggresive without goin to a muddie .Ive heard they are actually made in one of coopers factories :?: ..

thanks for that. will be towing a boat on trips up north so have decided to spend a bit over $1200 and get 4 Mickey Thompson STZ in standard size. apparently very strong safe tyre.

I was quoted $199 each for Maxxis fitted and balanced at Jax. I'm not sure if they were 751s or 770s as I ended up going for Bridgestone D694LTs at $265 each (265/70/R16 size).

D694's are great on road just don't expect much when going through anything remotely muddy. Even steep and rocky = slippery.

Not even done 1000 klms since picking up the 4wd and one of the grand treaks blew out 1st time on the highway (not impressed) went to change the LHF to spare but was no jack or wheel brace in the back. (ropeable) than noticed front brake pads wrere down to metal (2 weeks after rwc had been written) wow...got it sorted but talk about dodgy rwc inspection .. i expected more from a dealer.
